Surf Life Saving GB Accreditation

We are excited to share that we at Saltdean Swim & Surf Club are fully affiliated to Surf Life Saving GB.

Surf Life Saving GB is a Search and Rescue charity of 8,500 members helping to make our beaches safer and more enjoyable places for everyone.

SLSGB volunteers have been providing beach lifeguard training and patrolling the coast for more than 61 years.

SLSGB clubs are nationwide, training members aged from five years upwards in search and rescue, beach education, lifesaving, and fitness skills, helping create fitter and safer communities by the sea.

SLSGB is the awarding body for the highest standard of Beach Lifeguard qualification in the country. SLSGB has a strategic partnership with the RNLI and SLSGB volunteers work closely with RNLI Beach Lifeguards providing a joint lifeguard service and beach patrol. All SLSGB’s lifesaving qualifications are recognised nationally and internationally, and are a qualification of preference for the RNLI professional Lifeguard Service.

Surf Life Saving is open to all; we start training children from the age of five in our Nipper programme – and we have members still volunteering at the age of 70. Our youth programme, for members aged 13-16, offer a full range of Lifesaving awards to help develop lifelong volunteer lifesavers and Beach Lifeguards of the future. For members aged over 16 we offer professional Our Graduate Life Guard is the first step to vocational search and rescue Beach Lifeguarding qualifications and includes team leadership development and coaching qualifications.
